Clarice Bean.

Why Isn’t YOU spelt U or why isn’t WHY spelt Y? Spelling? Who knows where it all came from all I know Is that one person who struggles with It Is CLARICE BEAN. Clarice Bean Tuesday Is a 12 year old girl who is just like you and me. Her and her best friend Betty Moody are completely obsessed with Teen T.V star Ruby Redford. Clarice Bean Is quite a trouble maker unlike Betty Moody. They have a friend called Karl Wrenbury. Clarice’s brother Kurt works at an organic Products and food shop called Eggplant.One day walking to eggplant to buy a lovely refreshing Ice lolly Clarice spied a piece of paper Flailing about in the wind, Clarice runs after it and finds out about a drama class; Clarice loves drama. Her and Betty moody ask to join and they ring the teacher Czarina. They are also having a school production of the sound of music. They both Audition, Clarice auditioned for leisl who is the eldest of Captain von trapp’s children and Betty auditioned for the part of Maria is one of the nuns who Becomes there nanny but Captain von trap marries her in the end. Tuesday, Audition results day, Clarice runs to the board searching vigorously for her name, “AH there it is, Nun 4?” Oh no!” she screamed out to Betty. Betty on the other hand did get the part of Maria so she was pleased.

My favourite Character was Karl because he was really nice and he taught Grandpa and Cement (the dog) to have manners and he taught Grandpa How to command Cement. The sad thing about Karl was he didn’t have a father but one day he found his father’s number in his mothers address book. That’s when Clarice and Karl have their fight because Clarice doubts that he will be able to live with his father. Sadly his father says no and Karl has a breakdown in school with the principle Giving him is final warning before expulsion.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Clarice Bean and recommend it to people of ages between 9 and 13. This book grips like a vice I just couldn’t put it down. I rate this book 9/10.

Science fair

I did my science fair about different substances and what there effect was on apple oxidation.

My hypothesis what that the lemon juice would workt he best and it did by quite far.

Week 6 Term 2

This week i have learned . . .

MATHS:

* I have learnt how to find how many decimals are in the answer when multiplying decimals. You have to look at the decimals in the question count them up then and then go from right to left in the answer the same amount of times as the decimals in the question and you also need to estimate to check e.g 4.57 X 90.3 would not equal 36

* For English i have been focusing on dialogue punctuation in my writing

i have learnt that you need to ahve the punctuation inside the speech segment and not outside the speech marks .

This week . . .

Maths

For maths this week we have been focusing on decimals and i havent learnt a lot because I already know a lot about decimals but I did learn a new strategy for ordering decimals. You make the decimals all have the same amount of decimal places and then add them as numbers and put the decimal place in the answers. I also learnt that accending order means smallest to biggest and decending order means biggest to smallest.

English

For English this week I learnt how to punctuate properly and that you must have your full stops commas ect inside of your speech segments/speech marks.

Goals

One of my goals is to finish my book review and hand it in on time.

Another of my goals is to start my science fair.

Weekly Reflection Week 4 Term 2

This week i have…

* For tech arts we have started Art, I learnt that if you use different textures for painting then it look more lifelike and realistic

*for maths i learnt how to do decimal multiplication and division

* For writing we wrote a Camp recount and i did my one on the super fox i learnt some new punctuation skills and how to make it involve my feelings

Week 2 Term 2

This week in food technology we design our new product and I learned about the textures of food and what adolescents are and what they need to grow and stay healthy

This week was a sad week because our Koro sadly passed away and our kapa haka group and some other students went to his tangi. We also found out about one of our former students Tahuna Taahipehi was in a motor bike crash on the way to the unveiling of his dad’s headstone but he sadly passed away

For maths this week I learnt how to do a tree diagram and how to figure it out.

In extension maths we learnt about factors multiples and we did a worksheet and I learnt a little bit more about bedmas/bodmas/bidmas

For interclass volley ball this week we lost 47-49 but we had some good rally’s and a lot of fun

My goals this week are to master my totara springs music and to make a good product for cooking

Week 8 Term 1

this week we had…..

*our first tech arts for cooking we made a smoothie but mine wasn’t very nice

*we did our book reviews and i learnt how to write them well and am quite impressed with mine

*for maths we did integers and negative and positive numbers

*for p.e we played capture the flag and i learnt how to get in to the square using team work and skills

my academic goal is to get good feedback for my book review and i will achieve this by making sure i check it well and i will know i have achieved this when I get my assessment details back

Week 7 Term 1

This week for tech arts we had our last science lesson and I learnt about magnets and how the can only attract if north is connecting to the south. And we also learnt what things are magnetic and not magnetic e.g. a white board, black sand, a piece of steel and stainless steel. In maths I have learnt about common multiples factors and how to use a factor tree to find the common factors of a number e.g. if you had 21 then divide it by 3 you have 7 or if you had 99 divide that by 3 you would have 33 then divide that by 11 you have 3 divided by three is 1 so the answer s 1x 3x 11 x3 = 99 .For English this week I learnt how to do vocab work like anagrams and buried answers e.g. nine places hide a mountainous country then you have to find the answer in the words nine palaces which is Nepal. For PE I learnt how to play capture the flag and the second time I played it I got two points. My goals for the upcoming week is to listen and learn about how to do a book report so I know how to do it for when we have an assignment to do a book review. My athletic goal is to win softball because I am in the permanent team

Tech Arts

I learnt that magnets have a south and north side and they can only attract if the north and south sides are facing each other .It also attracts black sand.

Writing

I learnt how to do a story web and wrote a fictional story. I also learnt how to make my vocabulary more interesting by using a thesaurus

Maths

I learnt about BEDMAS and how you have to do it in the correct order which is B for brackets E for exponents D for division M for multiplication A for addition and S for subtraction

Goals

My athletic goal is to make it in to the intermediate soccer team i will do this by practicing and improving my skills with other players

My academic goal is to get better at my maths i will achieve this by practising and learning lots of new things

Ferry Riding Frenzy

“All passengers boarding the Aratere to Picton please set off now” I heard the captain say. My adventure to the Marlborough sounds was about to commence. Then suddenly those words no one wants to hear when there on a ferry or even a boat “please be seated as it has been reported that there are 10 METRE SWELLS across the Cook Strait” I sat on my seat and shuffled to the side but the chair slid with me. “There is going to be a delay and if you get boat sick move to the back” I heard the lady say. We were at the very front of the boat and so were sixty others but after the lady said about moving to the back I turned in to six people left at the front. Suddenly I felt the boat lift up and my tummy getting that funny feeling as if you’re going to fall, CRASH we hit the bottom of the wave and a huge gush of water splashed against the sparkly clean window and up we go again oh 4 hours of this is great finally our “fun and exciting” boat ride was over. We packed all our stuff and went on Mr Harvey’s boat to Ririkoko Bay luckily no swells at all just flat mystical water.
